Alternative and Augmentative Communication Assessment

An AAC Assessment is the process of determining the necessary tools, technology, and skills to access technologies that assist in the area of communication.  The assessment includes an assessment of the individual’s functional communication skills, ability to access technology, and trial of multiple means of AAC.  The final written report will include the information gathered, test results, a result of the trials, and recommendations.  Reports are provided for families, school districts, or insurance funding.  This assessment is conducted over a number of weeks (2-4 weeks).  Depending on the recommendations for a trial additional time may be involved in order to gather all of the necessary information.  A final report is provided with 3 weeks of the conclusion of testing

Alternative and Augmentative Communication Therapy

Therapy, or training, in the area of AAC is provided in the clinic, your home, or remotely.  We know that communication involves two persons.  Our AAC therapy works to build the communication skills of the communicator as well as the communication partner.  Our focus is on creating communication opportunities, modelling and using the system, and developing independent communication skills.

Social skills training

(only available online at this time)

Social skills training is provided in small groups.  We offer groups for AAC users as well as specking persons.  Our training works to address social communication skills such as learning to be a part of a small and/or large group, turn taking, commenting, asking questions, storytelling, and general conversational skills.

Trainings
